Remembrance Association of families whose members were murdered, killed, taken prisoners and are still missing during, before and after the war in Croatia has been founded on November 23 in Zagreb, Croatia and has released the following statement for the members of public:
“Remembrance Association” is in fact an association of Serb civilian families, legitimate citizens of the Republic of Croatia who have lost members of their families in the wake, during or even after the recent war in Croatia or who have been on the receiving end of the crimes against humanity, committed by regular or irregular para military forces of the Croatian Army or who as civilians have been persecuted and whose dignity has been compromised.
“Remembrance Association” has the following aims and duties,
to find remains of their beloved murdered and killed members who in turn have been murdered or killed in the wake, during and after the war in Croatia. Furthermore, “Remembrance Association” demands more assistance from the official governmental bodies in finding the remains of the murdered and killed ones and moreover recognizing their status as victims of the crimes against humanity regardless of their ethnicity or race.
Gathering reliable data about those civilians who have been taken prisoners and are still missing before, during and after the conflict in Croatia.
Establishing the truth about the circumstances surrounding their death or the fact that they went missing or that they were tortured.
Official recognition of the victims status, paying indemnities and acting promptly in accordance with national and international law.
“Remembrance Association” principal activities include:
Co operation with official governmental institutions as well as international ones and national and international charities and bodies alike.
Aiding families of murdered, killed or missing persons in achieving the rights, status and special treatments which have been already granted to other victims of the war in Croatia.
Cross border co operation with similar associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic of Serbia as well as promoting official bodies cross border co operation.
Speeding up the process of exhumation, identification of body remains their dignified burial and prompt informing of the general public.
Finding the way of financing the families whose members were murdered, killed, taken prisoners and are still missing during, before and after the war in Croatia.
“Remembrance Association” is calling upon the citizens of the Republic of Croatia as well as other associations regardless of ethnic groups that they are representing to join and equally assist the work of “Remembrance Association”
